12 Gifts That Grow With Baby

The littlest ones are the hardest to shop for in my family.  There are so many hand-me-downs with older siblings that we find ourselves racking our brains to create a holiday list.  Whether you are shopping for your first baby, grandbaby, niece or nephew, I hope you can find something on my list that helps you find the perfect gift.  Remember that baby gifts can be more for the parents than the baby sometimes – and that is okay! The baby is just in it for the wrapping paper.

Top 12 Gifts That Grow With Baby

#1 Saved Money.

This can be done in numerous ways, but the gift itself is the same: MONEY.  A college savings fund, a savings account, stocks, bonds, you name it, money will be needed as baby grows.

#2 A Piggy Bank.

Steer clear of the cheesy, baby-ish banks and find one that will complement the room no matter what color the walls are painted.

#3 Plant a Tree.

Depending on your housing situation, you can chose a dwarf tree that can grow on a balcony or indoors, or you can choose a large fruit tree that will grow right along side of your baby.  Another option is a garden that will produce fruit year after year (like berries).

#4 A Baby Doll.

This goes for boys and girls. As a baby enters toddlerhood, the imagination rapidly grows and playing house helps develop empathy, responsibility, and creativity.  We want our little boys to grow up to become nurturing partners and fathers, a baby doll helps set the foundation. Choosing a high quality, life-like doll will help to keep your little one loving their baby.

#5 A Comfortable Carrier.

There is a place in my heart for stretchy wraps and slings with my newborns, but after a few months I switch over to my buckle carrier (I love the Ergo) and never look back.  Mine has been through 4 babies with daily use.  I’d say I got my money’s worth.

#6 Extended Rear Facing Convertible Car Seat.

We are learning just how important it is to keep our babies rear facing for as long as possible, and car seats are available to help us do so! A great 5-point harness, convertible car seat can last from infancy until over 100lbs, and then turn into a booster seat.

#7 Stroller.

A stroller that functions as everything from day-to-day shopping, jogging, and a future two-seater will be worth its weight in gold.  Test drive a few and make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck.

#8 Keep a Diary.

Handwritten or typed, a journal of little moments kept from infancy through childhood will be cherished into adulthood.

#9 Stacking Cups.

This is a typical ‘First Toy’ for many little ones, but what so many fail to realize is just how much use these little cups will get. They turn into tea party cups, bath toys, beach and pool toys, and sorting cups for educational games.

#10 Books.

Books are the gift that keep on giving.  You can never have too many.

#11 Non-Diaper Diaper Bag.

Dropping good money on a large, gorgeous purse will surpass any amount of time you will tote around a trendy diaper bag.  You don’t need all of those pockets anyway!  A purse big enough for diapers, wipes, a wet bag, change of baby clothes, and your wallet is all you want.

#12 Cute Hooded Towels.

Soft towels will be used for a few years!  Invest in something hooded and picture-worthy cute!  There are so many designs out there, you can find anything you can dream up. Have fun shopping!
