The Boy Diet

Many books can be found on this subject, and there are lengthy explanations everywhere, but the basic theory here is this – the pH balance in your body can be controlled by diet, and that balance can alter the environment in which the egg is waiting to be fertilized. This diet recommends you avoid acidic foods in quest of a more alkaline (less acidic) environment for the boy-bearing sperm to thrive. • Blessed Thistle: Blessed thistle is not very renowned as a fertility booster although this plant is extremely efficient in increasing the chances of getting pregnant with a male baby. The herb is very rich in potassium and sodium, minerals that are essential for the male sperm to survive inside the vagina, travel towards the ovaries and fertilize the egg eventually.

Breakfast Cereal: A British study discovered a relationship between women who consume breakfast cereal and conceiving boys. (This probably has to do with the sugar content.)

Papaya: Citrus fruits are incorrectly considered acidic, when in fact they can actually alkalinize the internal environment, making it more likely to sustain the conception and development of a baby boy. Papaya is an excellent example of an alkaline food that can enhance fertility and boost the chances of getting pregnant with a male baby.

Quinoa: A food that works by lowering acidity of the stomach and bodily fluids and increases the chances of getting pregnant with a baby boy. It is healthier than white rice and lots of grains and pastries so you can safely incorporate it in your weekly menu. 100 grams of this food provide 318 mg of potassium, 31 mg of calcium, 13 mg of sodium as well as iron, zinc and other minerals that are important for increasing the odds of conceiving a male baby!

OVULATION

You MUST know when you ovulate. If you truly want to increase your chances of pregnancy occurring AND possibly conceiving a boy, you need to know the exact day of ovulation – NOT your ovulation/fertile window.

Tracking ovulation: Basal Body Temperature Charting: Basal body temperature (BBT) is the temperature of your body in full rest, and this temperature is influenced by the hormones that regulate your menstrual cycle. In simple terms: your temperature increases slightly after ovulation has occurred. It is not a huge shift, which is why a basal body thermometer is needed, and the temperature must be taken at the same time (before moving from bed in the morning) each day. If your egg is fertilized, the temperature does not drop back to its normal temperature but instead stays elevated (or increases again after implantation.) Learn more: Here

Ovulation Tests: Ovulation tests (Ovulation Predictor Kit) will tell you when ovulation is about to happen, helping you identify the one or two days in your cycle when you are most fertile. Ovulation tests work by detecting a hormone in your urine called luteinizing hormone (LH). Your body always produces some LH, but approximately 12 to 36 hours before ovulation, the level of LH increases dramatically. Ovulation tests detect this surge and will give a positive result when the amount of LH in your urine is high. A positive result means that you are likely to ovulate within the next 1-3 days.

Cervical Mucus:

• Not fertile: The sensation in your vagina is dry, and there is little or no visible mucus.
• Fertile: You have a moist or sticky sensation. Your mucus resembles milk or starts to look like egg white, but it breaks when stretched.
• Most fertile: The sensation is wet and slippery. Your mucus is abundant, resembles raw egg white and can be stretched between your fingers without breaking.
• Post-ovulation (not fertile): The sensation is dry or sticky. The mucus is thick, opaque or white, and much sparser than before ovulation.

SEX

Sex Timing and Ovulation: The most important element in the Shettles Method is timing sex right. Because male sperm cells are moving faster, having intercourse as closely to ovulation as possible increases the chance that a male sperm will reach the egg first. The Shettles recommends using a condom or avoiding sex all together during the last 4-5 days before ovulation, except the “now or never” intercourse which should take place no more than 12 hours before ovulation.

Sex Positions: The area around your cervix is more alkaline than the entrance to you vagina. Having sex in a position that allows deep penetration will make sure that the sperm is released as close to the cervix as possible, which favors the male sperm cells. Best Positions: (Or any position you can create to get the deepest penetration)

• Doggy-Style
• “Spooning” (or positions similar to this)
• Standing sex, or you bent forward while he enters from behind
• Laying with legs and pelvis raised, while he stands.

Sex Advice From Experts

ORGASM. When a woman has an orgasm, the cervical mucus inside the vagina becomes more alkaline and creates a better environment for male sperm. Ideally, the woman should climax before the male partner.

Make it Quick. Boys seem to be conceived after non-romantic, “quicky” style sex.

Chinese Calendar: It has been around for hundreds of years. The Chinese calendar uses the mother’s age and the month in which she conceives to determine the baby’s gender. You can use the calendar to determine which month you should try to conceive in to get the baby gender that you are hoping for. (Some lunar calendar experts say this method is up to 99% accurate!)

Check the Moon: This one is definitely an old wives’ tale, but the legend is, having sex on the night of a quarter moon guarantees a boy! (However, make sure that the moon falls at the same time you are ovulating!)

Shettles Method: The Shettles Method is based on the assumption that male sperm are faster but more fragile, than female sperm. In order to get pregnant with a boy, you have to create conditions that favor the fast-moving male sperm rather than the stronger female sperm. By altering your diet and timing sex correctly, you can accomplish this (75-90% of the time, according to absolutely no proven research- but this is the claim of the method!)

Cultural Rituals: In Ancient China, they believed that the woman, who wanted to give birth to a boy, should be lying with her head to the North during conception. The Egyptians conceived boys in the full moon, the Germans — in sunny and warm weather. Many ancient Europeans put an ax under the pillow to conceive a baby boy. Representatives of Eastern and African nations drank lion blood with wine before conception to have a boy. *These ideas may be frowned upon in our society.
