As I left the pool today – with a cover-up over my bikini, all 4 kids (ages 6 years down to 4 months) in tow, I received a message to write about THIS. At first I didn’t understand. How can anyone possibly shame a new mom? It happened – and probably happens more than we know.

A normal gender reveal photo on social media makes you say, "AWWWWWWWWWW." But scroll across a celebrity's announcement of his or her baby's gender and time stands still for a moment.
We all like to pretend that we actually know these people. Technically, through five-degrees-of-separation, I guess we do! Reality is that it is just plain fun to obsess and feel invested in a celebrity's life. You may even start dreaming of baby names for the happy (or not-so-happy) couple! Heck, I think I will go ahead and name these babies! I mean, I'm basically BFF with most of them - They will love my name ideas!

It’s such a crapshoot out there. Shelves stocked full of sunscreen choices. You think that anything is better is nothing. You think that sunscreen not only keeps you from burning, but protects you from skin cancer. Obviously, you must buy it. Especially if you have a child. Heaven forbid you skip the sunscreen on a child. Again you think, ‘Anything is better than nothing.’ But this is wrong. So wrong.

A small piece of history was recently discovered.
RECORD YOURBABY'S HEARTBEAT IN ANADORABLE STUFFED ANIMAL! The smallest ancient Egyptian coffin was found. In a culture that treasures life; they also treasured and respected death. This coffin was too tiny to hold an infant, smaller even than a newborn. This coffin was merely 44cm, large enough to embrace a fetus of just 16-18 weeks gestation.

16-18 weeks gestation is the equivalent of 4 months pregnant.
The families of our military men and women are typically the force that drives them. They are also an integral part of transitioning a soldier back into the community after he or she returns from a tour of duty. Not only are our soldiers faced with the possibility of death, injury and psychological problems while fighting for our freedom, but certain injuries may leave them unable to conceive children naturally. As we all know, in-vitro fertilization is the act of surgically implanting fertilized eggs into the lining of the uterus. It is a very expensive procedure. One in which most insurances do not cover.

There are several articles circulating about the heartbreaking death of Amy Joyner, a Delaware high school student. She was involved in a fight inside the girls’ bathroom and fell, hitting her head against the sink. This injury took her life. Videos taken from cell phones may surface, and ‘He Said, She Said’ stories will fill the halls of the school. According to friends, Amy did not believe in fighting and often intervened in situations about to become physical to halt them before they escalated. But in the end, a group of students are to blame for taking a life far too soon.

San Francisco just approved 6-weeks fully paid parental leave.
That's right. San Francisco is paving the way. It has just become the first city in our country to require ALL companies provide a FULLY-paid parental leave for parents. The six weeks will allow both the mother and father to take the time off, which realistically means that parents have 12 weeks between the two of them.A dad and Navy corpsman, Brian Hill passed away leaving a devastated family behind. He was involved in a traffic accident and sadly passed away. While this news is life-shattering to those who loved and depended on Brian, there is another reason his story is making headlines. Brian's wife, Courtney, explained that she and her husband were trying to conceive another child the months prior to the accident in Oklahoma. The morning of Brian's wake, Courtney took a pregnancy test. She was able to hold his hand and tell him the wonderful news before she kissed him goodbye forever. With the stress of her husband's death, motherhood, and life in general, there is no surprise to learn that within a few weeks of Brian's passing, Courtney experienced trouble with the pregnancy. She feared the worst, but experienced something unimaginable as she was examined at the hospital. Courtney's pregnancy was healthy, but more than that, she learned she was not carrying one, not two, but three tiny heartbeats within her womb!

Another sad story has been crossing our newsfeed. When a child dies, it strikes a cord in all of us. It is a hard realization to make when you hear of such tragedy.
A grieving family in Missouri, is mourning the loss of their four month old son, Gannon. He was born six weeks too early, and weighed in at just three pounds. He spent time in the NICU before going home, but seemed to be healthy and typical from that point on.
Ms. Koehler, Gannon's mother, sensed something was wrong when Gannon didn't wake crying in his room one morning. At 9:30am, she walked in to find Gannon unresponsive. She prayed for a miracle as he was transferred to the Children's Hospital.
Gannon had a significant loss of oxygen which caused him to lose all brain function.
At this point, a decision needed to be made. Both Gannon's mother and father decided to use this tragedy to help - by donating their child's organs.
