I stumbled upon this article the other day. A friend’s husband actually shared it on social media. This couple (my friend and her husband) just sold their home to spend the next few months traveling the country with their 3 young ones. They’ve been on the road for a few weeks, and I can tell just by their ‘status updates’ how much this trip has bonded them. They are an amazing family and threw caution to the wind just to ensure that they were living life – together. I’m proud of them, happy for them, and slightly jealous (who wouldn’t be!).

Perhaps you read my article about Emmett’s sensory meltdown a few weeks ago. I received an overflowing amount of love and understanding from so many of you, but I also received questions. Many parents wrote asking if their child could have sensory processing disorder, when Emmett was diagnosed, what the symptoms are, and how we are helping – not to forget the other popular question, how I stay sane.

Our society is finally accepting differences. Maybe accepting is the wrong word to use. “Addressing?” That may fit better. Our society is finally addressing differences, or lack thereof, among genders. It has been the headline for over a year now, ‘Trans-Gender’ and ‘Gender Neutral Children’ those identifying more with the opposite gender than they were born, or unsure of which gender they truly identify with. Our culture has not been the most welcoming to the topic, but with all great things, our country tends to fail before it succeeds.

In 2013, The United States was declared the costliest country to give birth in, with prices more than tripling from 1996. That was three years ago. Who can guess what has happened since then? That’s right, even higher birth costs.

As you have read, I just completed 3000 miles with my 4 young children in tow. I had planned to spend 23 days and cover 2300 miles, but plans changed when I added in an epic surprise at the end of the trip! We added 2 extra days and a few extra miles that were well worth it! Have you ever thought about driving with your kids somewhere, but don’t know where to start? Or are you too scared to attempt the drive solo, leaving your partner behind to work? Adventure doesn’t wait for anyone. If we sat around waiting for my husband to take off, we would be waiting forever – and take very short trips.

Marijuana, pot, cannabis, weed, or the 50 street names it is known by, is currently in the spotlight. A growing number of states have legalized marijuana, with more to soon follow, for medicinal or recreational purposes, and its use by pregnant women will increase as a result.

I am Single Mom Driving, and I am currently in bed, surrounded by sleeping children. We are in a hotel - our last hotel of this crazy journey. I have loved and appreciated all of the kind words and thoughts sent out to my kids and I over the last 25 days.
I have been horrible at keeping baby books, or even printing pictures over the years, but these adventures -- these are my memories that I want to hold on to forever.
Packing for a road trip with kids is complicated. Take notes and learn from my 2,300 mile roadtrip!

#SingleMomDriving I have lost my mind. Roughly 1,150 miles down the east coast and 1,150 back will add up to who knows how many realistic miles... I can't even think about the "Are We There YET?" comments. Don't you worry, there is a case of wine packed in the trunk.

As I left the pool today – with a cover-up over my bikini, all 4 kids (ages 6 years down to 4 months) in tow, I received a message to write about THIS. At first I didn’t understand. How can anyone possibly shame a new mom? It happened – and probably happens more than we know.

My friends and I span all walks of the education spectrum. While I am homeschooling my tribe through co-ops and at home, some of my nearest and dearest send their little ones to public, private, motessori, and waldorf schools. Some even -gasp- unschool their children. A few of us were chatting about our almost 3 year olds and the outrageous expectations placed on them in our current education system. One friend told us that she was signing her son up this year for a ‘Nature Preschool.’ The rest of us thought she was talking about a fancy new preschool in the city that may have a more elaborate nature-inspired playground. And then she pulled up this fabulous website. And then our jaws dropped.
